Most BBQ aprons are thin fabric with a couple of pockets. They do the job until they don’t — stained after three sessions, straps that won’t stay tied, pockets too shallow to be useful. We built the Gaucho because we could not find anything better. It took two years and a protected design to get it right.

What makes a BBQ apron worth buying

There are three things that separate a proper grilling apron from a novelty one:

• Fabric weight — thin canvas shows fat splatter and burns through quickly. Heavy denim takes the heat, hides the mess, and lasts years.
• Strap system — a neck loop that pulls down on one side and a single back tie is not enough. You need adjustable neck and cross-back straps that stay put when you’re reaching across a hot grill.
• Utility features that work at the fire — pockets deep enough to hold tongs, knife sheaths that don’t flap, a towel loop you can actually pull from one-handed.

The Gaucho was designed to pass all three tests, then tested at a live fire until it did.

We are a small design-led brand based in Reigate, Surrey. Everything in the range has been used at a live fire before it goes on sale. We make in small batches, hand-finish in the UK, and use materials with known supply chains. If something goes wrong with your order, a person picks it up.
