Year Two Review: What Changed and What Stayed the Same

At the end of 2024 — the end of our second full trading year — we ran a review of what had changed and what hadn’t. Both lists matter.

What Changed in 2024

Four products joined the range in 2024:

  • The Corporate Personalised Apron (February 2024) — the Gaucho at £49 for corporate orders of five or more units, embroidered with a company name or logo
  • The BBQ Block (May 2024) — handcrafted English oak from local Surrey woodlands, £99
  • The BBQ Block Keyring (June 2024) — live-edge oak offcuts from the Block production, £7
  • The Personalised Gaucho (July 2024) — the Gaucho with an embroidered name, £77

Gift bundles moved from edge cases to a significant revenue line. The Bison Hill Grill doubled its event count from 2023. Corporate enquiries increased substantially as word of the operation spread. We started receiving unsolicited press requests — the brand was being found rather than just being sought.

What Didn’t Change

The Gaucho apron design: identical to the July 2022 sign-off. Not one change. The price: £75, where it has been since launch. The manufacturing approach: small batch, UK-made, the same production partners. The four pillars: Fire-Tested, UK-Made, Small Batch, Buy Once.

These are not things we failed to revisit. We revisited them repeatedly. Every time, the conclusion was the same: the design is right, the price is right, the approach is right. Stability in the things that matter is not inertia. It’s confidence.

What 2024 Confirmed

Range expansion done correctly builds on the core rather than diluting it. The BBQ Block and the Personalised Gaucho both extended the brand logic — more ways to express the same standard. The corporate product opened a new customer category without changing what the product was. Premium pricing is not a barrier for the right customer. The right customer finds the brand, buys once, and comes back.
