November 2025. Forty-two months since we founded Bison Hill in Reigate in February 2022. Here is an honest account of where the brand stands and what the four original pillars look like after three and a half years of trading.
The four pillars: unchanged
FIRE-TESTED: every product still goes through all five stages of the Live Fire Standard before it ships. No shortcuts, no exceptions. Two products were stopped in development in 2024 and 2025 because they did not pass. The filter is working.
UK-MADE: all production is still in the UK. The embroidery is still done by the same workshop, by adults with learning disabilities, by hand. The English oak for the BBQ Block is still locally sourced. Nothing has moved offshore. Nothing will.
SMALL BATCH: we still inspect every piece before it ships. Volume has grown. The inspection has not been dropped to manage that volume. It is slower than automated quality control. It is also more reliable.
BUY-ONCE: the Gaucho Apron design has not changed since July 2022. There has been no annual refresh, no version two, no limited edition. Customers who bought in 2022 have the same product as customers who bought this month. That is the buy-once promise operating as intended.
What has grown
In February 2022 we had one product. We now have fifteen or more, including eight gift sets across a £20 to £200 price range. The Bison Hill Grill has grown from zero to forty-plus events per year across Surrey, Sussex, and Kent. Reviews have grown from zero to 109 verified five-star assessments. Brand recognition has reached a point where Bison Hill is appearing on “best BBQ gift” lists without us placing it there.
What the brand looks like now
Bison Hill is an established presence in serious outdoor cooking culture in the UK. That is not a claim we are making — it is a description of what the data shows. Customers arrive knowing what they want. Stockists and event organisers seek us out. The products appear in gift guides written by people who found them independently.
The brief in 2021 was to make the best live-fire BBQ kit available in the UK. We are still doing that. That has not changed in forty-two months, and it will not change.
